Micro-Sphere SA has developed a platform technology in order to
approach the most common formulation difficulties in which one may
run into with critical active substances.
Many different factors are influencing the way how to reach the
final goal, and these have to be considered in order to make the
proper choice.
1. Dried lipid formulations
In the most cases the formulation has to be prepared as a solution
and only in rare cases it will be kept in the liquid state. Generally
liquid formulations has to be dried to obtain a powder or granules
which on their turn will transformed in the final product. The presence
of lipids in the liquid formulation is one of the major difficulties
because of the sticky properties of the lipids influencing negatively
the powder or granules properties. Within this context Micro-Sphere
SA has developed the necessary know-how to process by conventional
technologies (fluid bed and spray drier) the lipid formulations
in order to obtain suitable powders and granules.
2. Liquid lipid formulations
Depending on the whole characteristics of the final product (properties
of the active ingredient, dosage, way of administration, protection,
final form, final packaging, quantities) it will be chosen one of
the following general lipid formulation:
multilamellar liposomes, monolamellar liposomes, lipid micro-emulsion,
lipid nano-emulsion. |
